CHECK ME OUT
This fun, interactive class instills a belief in the young person that they are wonderfully made. Helping young ladies become more self-confident and courteous, they are crowned princesses (with a tiara) and taught to think and carry themselves as princesses. Additional age-appropriate activities that build self-esteem are a part of this class.
BODY LANGUAGE
Students will learn that good grooming habits are important when it comes to making a positive first impression and building self-esteem. Valuable information will be given on hygiene, exercise & nutrition, hair & skin care, and maintaining and building (teen class) their wardrobe. Entertaining skits will reinforce concepts learned. Manicures and facials are the highlight of this class!
CAN WE TALK?
Good verbal and nonverbal communication skills show refinement and affect first impressions. Students will learn and practice oral presentation skills including; eye contact, voice, projection, facial expressions, and more. Students will have a “voice make-over” by tape-recording their voices before and after this class. “Be girls" (I be…) beware.
WHAT’S HOT! WHAT’S NOT!
Manners, we can’t live without them! Good manners impress people and build self-esteem. Bad manners reflect bad attitudes and disrespect for self and others. In this class, students will learn what to do and what not to do in various social settings and formal situations. Topics include, table settings, introductions, table and telephone manners, classroom manners, ordering from a menu, writing thank you notes and more. A four course instructional meal will reinforce what has been learned!
PUTTING YOUR BEST FOOT FORWARD, PART ONE
No one is born graceful, but with practice anyone can learn the art of gracefulness. Students will learn to exude confidence by learning (through the use of modeling techniques) correct posture, proper walking, standing, and sitting. Students will use the skills learned to model their favorite outfit at the graduation ceremony. This session will be videotaped.
PUTTING YOUR BEST FOOT FORWARD, PART TWO
This class session is a continuation of part one. The videotape will be reviewed and additional modeling steps will be taught. The highlight of this class will be a black and white photo shoot.
WHAT’S ON YOUR MIND?
Young people love to be heard! This session gives the student an opportunity to discuss, demonstrate and provide feedback on what they have learned throughout the program. A review of all the skills learned along with planning for the graduation ceremony will complete this session.
FOCUS: WHERE ARE YOU GOING?
This class allows the students to think about their future and explore their career choices. Age appropriate topics include goal setting, interviewing techniques (teen class), and meeting with individuals that work in the careers that the students are interested in. Students will learn that they can achieve anything from a career as an artist to a zoologist!
