| Children and youth are bombarded with many negative messages about who they are. As a result, many children and youth do not like or love themselves. The school systems, both private and public, along with other social and civic organizations are challenged to counteract the negative impact that the media and society has on our children and youth and their attitudes about themselves and others. Many schools and organizations have enrichment programs that focus on character building. Yet another important but often overlooked factor of character building is teaching young girls, especially, how to love and like themselves as well as instilling social skills that help them develop more self-confidence and common courtesy!
